What the deposit is. The deposit is security in case the bike is damaged, lost or stolen. When you pick up the bike, we place a hold on your payment card for the amount shown. It is not a payment – the money never leaves your account, your bank simply sets it aside for the rental period. By arrangement the deposit can also be paid in cash.

New and returning customer. A returning customer is anyone who has already rented a bike from us and returned it in good condition – a lower amount is enough. For returning customers and longer rentals we may use a card pre-authorisation instead of a hold (the card is stored securely, nothing is blocked or charged).

What to bring. A payment card in the same name as your main ID document and two valid original ID documents (ID card or passport and driving licence). Photos of documents on your phone are not enough.

Returning the bike. Return the bike in good condition and we release the hold in full, within 72 hours at the latest – a cash deposit is handed back when you return the bike. How quickly the bank makes the amount available again depends on your card issuer. In case of damage we only charge the damage actually incurred, never more than the amount shown, and we always let you know what was charged and why.

Groups. For group rentals the group leader provides the deposit for all bikes handed over. Group members may, by arrangement, provide their own deposit for their bike, which reduces the leader's deposit accordingly. We are happy to agree the simplest option with you in advance.

Deposit and Bike Protection. The deposit does not replace the compulsory Bike Protection – it covers the excess and damage the protection does not cover (for example theft of the bike). The deposit does not limit your liability for damage to, loss or theft of the bike.
